BOM / Assembly / Purchasing list verification and integrity checking: Compare BOM documents (or any listed information) even when they’re in different formats. Automatically convert any BOM and other listed information into standard formats to allow importing into downstream processes (such as importing into an MRP or into PLM systems like Oracle’s Agile). Compress related information spanning multiple rows down to single row records. Verify integrity of BOM by automatically locating duplicate reference designators and part numbers (even when designator ranges are hyphenated like R3-7). Continue reading →

Ultimate Point & Click Worksheet Parser/Importer/Auto-Editor (Text Converter/Importer)

This action can modify original content held within a worksheet (allowing changes by iterations), and it can create an entirely new worksheet for the conversion/import results. The Ultimate Point & Click Excel Worksheet Parser/Importer will allow you to quickly get textual documents and information from a wide variety of sources into Excel in an orderly fashion. This Text Converter/Import action is as easy to use as Excel’s import facility or as its TextToColumns facility for comparable tasks and has extended abilities. It modifies and restructures information Continue reading →

Find and Manage Duplicates

This action can highlight and place tags within the source and a list reporting duplicates and their occurrence count can be placed anywhere. Refinate includes many options for locating and handling duplicates. One option is to find duplicates of individual items within your selection. Multiple areas can be selected and searched all at once for duplicates. It even searches for duplicates within single cells containing numerous comma delimited items. When searching for duplicates of individual items, an option is available to look inside hyphenated range notation. For Continue reading →

Compare for Differences (Compare2/Uniques)

This action can highlight and place tags within the sources being compared and it can also generate a new worksheet that holds a report. Select two areas of the worksheet to compare against each other for differences. Use this feature for determining what is within one list (or document) that is not within another list (or document) regardless of row ordering. The differences will be revealed and a report can be generated. Whole rows, partial rows, or comma delimited items can be compared among areas selected. For example, Continue reading →

Powerful Query

Refinate’s Query will locate cells which contain exact matches to your specified items even when multiple items/words are listed within single cells. A shortcoming of Excel’s Find is that in order to find a whole word among multiple words within single cells, you must use Excel’s partial cell match setting. But then Excel inappropriately finds every occurrence of the name even if it only partially matches. For instance, use Excel’s Find for “Robert” and it brings you incorrectly to both cells “Robert Jackson” and “Roberta Continue reading →

Reduce Rows to One

This action creates a new worksheet and the original source worksheet remains unchanged. If a document has information spread out across multiple rows that is related to a single object, you can use this action to gather the spread out information and have it all placed into one row for the object (for all objects selected in your worksheet). After using this action to convert the format into single row records, you can to take advantage of important Excel features (Sort, AutoFilter, Advanced Filter, etc.) and Continue reading →

Expand Row to Many

This action creates a new worksheet and the original source worksheet remains unchanged. If a document has single row records where each record might have one column (one cell of the record) which contains more than one item (comma delimited — such as reference designators or netlist nodes, etc.), this can be used to expand those rows such that all information of each record is replicated for as many times as there are comma delimited items associated with that record. And only one of the original comma delimited Continue reading →

Get Accurate Item Counts (Paste Count Right > )

Each row’s count will be placed into a cell to the right of the selection. This action will provide an accurate count of all items found on each row within the selection. If there are multiple comma delimited items contained within a cell, they will all be counted (e.g., “R1,R3,R5″ in a single cell is counted as 3 items). Additionally, it will count items that are represented using hyphenated range syntax (e.g., “R1-10″ is counted as 10 items). Prior to generating a quantity count, if Continue reading →
